Research summary
This is a feasibility study of a novel intervention for people experiencing significant distress from hearing voices/auditory hallucinations. The study is designed to explore whether Melodic Intonation Therapy (MIT; a specific type of singing intervention) can either 1) improve psychological well-being; and/or 2) improve source monitoring (ability to distinguish own speech from others); and/or 3) increase use of creative means to cope with distress from auditory hallucinations.
This will be explored through a multiple baseline case series delivering the intervention, using different specific measures at set time-points to assess psychological well-being, distress and source-monitoring.
