Research summary
Stereotatic radiosurgery (SRS) is a novel, non-invasive technique to treat brain metastases in patients with cancer, with effectiveness comparable with surgical resection. However, a proportion of metastases may not respond to treatment, and it is currently not possible to predict immediately after treatment if this has been effective . In this study, we plan to test if we can observe changes in diffusion parameters, sodium concentration and blood flow on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans performed after SRS in order to establish if we these could potentially be used to predict response. This is a pilot/feasibilty study which will help us design future studies on this subject.
