  • Research summary

This pilot study aims to evaluate the role of MRI in evaluating a cohort of rectal adenoma and early rectal carcinoma with MRI. Assessment of such lesions is currently unstandardised. Conversely MRI is used routinely to make management decisions in advanced rectal cancer. There is a paucity of evidence evaluating MRI or an other imaging modality in this cohort or early lesions. Should MRI prove accurate for depth of invasion or lymph node positivity in early lesions it may improve practice, better inform clinicians and patients and also standardise care in the UK.
