Research summary
The use of non-patient volunteers for the development, optimisation and validation of MRI protocols has been used routinely in radiology departments the world over. This protocol intends to facilitate this at The Christie in a systematic, auditable way following good clinical practice, ensuring accountability and providing non-patient volunteers with the appropriate levels of information about risk, how any incidental findings will be handled and who will have access to their information. Undertaking service development in this way will also facilitate the sharing and publication of novel developments and case studies, as volunteers will be invited to consent to the use of their anonymised images for these purposes.
