Data collection arrangements
This is a clinical and research spreadsheet of all patients presenting with foot ulceration at the Mid and South Essex Diabetic Foot Clinic at Basildon Hospital. The data fields held include NHS number, co-morbidities, type, location and size of the ulcer, ulcer pictures and details of future interventions such as amputation, revascularisation procedure, orthopaedic procedure.
Data will be entered by diabetic foot clinic staff during the clinic into a password protected Excel spreadsheet on an NHS password protected computer in the personal folder of Dr Michael Mulcahy.
Research programme
This database is currently used for audit of the diabetic foot clinic outcomes, e.g. amputation rates. It will be used in the future for outcomes research, e.g. amputation rates, cure rates with new microbiolgical therapies, and healing rates after tendon release procedures.
