  • Research summary

This study will investigate the normal bacteria (flora) that are found on the skin and in the nose and how this changes over time in people with ANCA associated vasculitis (AAV) compared to people who do not have AAV. This is why we are inviting both individuals with AAV and those without to take part. We will be looking at how the immune system responds to its usual bacteria and whether changes in bacterial flora make patients with AAV more likely to develop infection. Research into infection in AAV is important because infection is one of the most significant causes of illness complicating AAV and causing death in people with this condition.
