  • Data collection arrangements

We wish to collect and store blood, saliva, urine, stool and tissue samples from patients with melanoma to support future research into the cause, diagnosis, treatment and outcome of this disease. Patients treated at Lancashire teaching Hospitals will be identified and consented for their samples to be stored at the melanoma tissue and biofluid bank. SAmples will be taken at the time of routine clinical care. Anonymised clinical and demographic data will be collected to ensure these samples provide a unique resource for melanoma research.

  • Research programme

These samples will be made available (on application) to researchers from within the Lancashire and South Cumbria region, but also more widely across the North West and, if ethical approvals are in place, to researchers from elsewhere in the country and abroad. This will support a range of translational research projects into melanoma.
