Research summary
A research team at the University of Lincoln has received funding from leading national charity, Macmillan Cancer Support and a local organisation, The Bromhead Medical Charity to carry out research relating to the social care needs of people living with cancer (and their carers) in Lincolnshire.
This study has two components:First, we aim to examine the social care needs of people affected by cancer in Lincolnshire. This will be done through a series of five in-depth interviews and six focus groups with those at different stages of the cancer journey. The results will inform future service development and delivery at both the local and national level.
Second, we will assess the effectiveness of a local support service in Lincolnshire, whereby carers of people at end-of-life are offered a package of support tailored to their specific needs. This will be done through ten in-depth interviews with carers in receipt of this service. The results will inform future funding decisions relating to the on-going delivery of this intervention.
