  • Research summary

This research study involves the development of a mobile application tool which patients can use to help remind collect information from adherence questionnaires, and also be used for participants to feed back any side effects they may be experiencing. We want to assess whether the young people find it easy to use, and whether in the short term it changes affects adherence

The aim is to use a minimum of 20 children, also asking parent/guardians to give feedback on their observations of the young person's attitudes to their medication through filling a parental adherence questionnaire.

Participants will be asked to install the free mobile application for at least 1 month. On installing the application, they will be prompted to complete a questionnaire about their current adherence to medication. The mobile app will work to provide reminders for medication and also an option to record any side effects they may be experiencing. AT the end of every week participants will be asked to complete a short 8 item adherence questionnaire. At the end of 1 month, the participants will be asked to complete the initial Day 1 questionnaire again which will enquire about their attitudes towards taking their regular medication after using the mobile application tool.

Throughout the one month data will be collected on how often the application was used and also what side effects were most frequently experienced by patients.
