Research summary
Bariatric surgery is an important treatment for morbid obesity. Post-operative the majority of patients have polypharmacy regimes due to their operation which may lead to vitamin deficiencies, and as a result of associated co-morbidities which are common in morbidly obese patients.
Previous research has shown medication adherence to be poor in chronic health conditions. The full extent of medication adherence is not currently known in the bariatric population.
In this study we aim to investigate medication adherence in the bariatric population using an anonymised questionnaire and identify associated factors.
