  • Research summary

Acute Liver Failure (ALF) is a devastating condition with significant mortality. Plasma Exchange (PEX) therapy is a recognised treatment and a randomised controlled trial has shown improved outcome in patients with ALF by increasing survival. The mechanism to this benefit is not fully understood.\n\nThe primary objective is to identify which circulating proteins change in patients with ALF during and after PEX to provide insight into mechanisms of the exchange and ultimately to lead to further studies exploring the predictive potential of these proteins\n
