  • Research summary

The Macrophage study for liver cirrhosis (MATCH) randomised controlled trail (RCT) completed in August 2022. At the conclusion of the trial, it has become apparent that we understand the longer term outcomes of participants within the study cohort to determine longer-term safety and the durability of treatment responses.
The aim of the MATCH Long Term Follow up (LTFU) study is to continue to collect clinical data for the participants that took part in the MATCH RCT trial, this data will be collected remotely, with no study visits, and no additional interventions other than that directed by their usual liver doctors. Data recorded at the participant’s routine clinic visits will be collected remotely over a three year period, By doing so, comprehensive clinical outcome data, on a well characterised cohort of cirrhotic patients enrolled in an interventional study, will be obtained. This study is therefore an important milestone in the overall aim of the original MATCH study.
