    To develop a new mobile-phone application that has the capability:
    1) to use accepted diagnostic criteria to establish a user’s level of nicotine dependence;
    2) to monitor and record in space and time tobacco smoking including additional descriptive information about place, behaviour, and craving; (Phase 1) and
    3) to provide the user a) a quantitative view of their smoking profile, and b) app-based support to facilitate smoking cessation. The intervention phase will be supervised by the GP following the development of the individual profile. The intervention will be based on an individual’s smoking profile and will include dynamic text messaging support during the quit and early relapse phase.(Phase 2)
