Research summary
This study will involve interviews with patients with advanced cancer who are currently living at home and managing their own medication, with or without the help of a family member/friend. Patients who are receiving assistance from a family carer will be asked if they would like to nominate that individual to take part in the interview also. Interviews with patients and carers can take place either together or separately depending on individual preference.
The aim of this study is to identify the key issues for patients with advanced cancer, and their carers, in the management of medications in the home setting from the perspective of patients and carers.
Patients will be recruited from three Day Hospice organisations and one charity organisation in five locations throughout Northern Ireland. Patients who receive assistance from a friend/family member in managing their medicines will be asked to identify this friend/family member, who will be approached to participate in the interview.REC name
