Research summary
Inflammatory diseases are likely to cause enlargement of the abdominal lymph nodes which could potentially act as biomarkers of inflammation. MRI can image lymph nodes non-invasively. We are interested in collecting pilot image data, particularly a water diffusion MRI scans as diffusion MRI scans show enlarged lymph nodes. To this effect we are proposing a one hour MRI scan to collect images of enlarged lymph nodes. We will collect data from approximately 60 patients diagnosed with one of the following: chronic viral hepatitis B or C infection, symptomatic coeliac disease, symptomatic Crohn’s disease, Diverticulitis, active Helicobacter pylori infection or liver cirrhosis.
