Research summary
The proposed study will examine the potential of using an application that gamifies medicine taking to encourage better adherence to the prescription. The application will reward positive behaviour, i.e. taking your medicine on time will enable the user to reach the games objectives by making the play elements in the game easier. Participants will have access to an ipad to play the game, and will also be given a Fitbit, fitness tracker, the idea being that a potential marker of compliance will be an improvement in activity. This is a small scale pilot and it may prove difficult to ensure statistical significance, but it may indicate potential in the approach and suggest value in moving to a larger scale study.
