  • Research summary

L-FED is a longitudinal follow up of a cohort of people treated for an eating disorder when they were in childhood or adolescence. Young people who were treated at the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorder Service (CAEDS), South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust between 2009 and 2014 will be contacted and asked for information about their health, well-being and use of services since discharge.

There is a gap in the literature between follow up of RCTs and population based longitudinal studies, as there have been no published follow ups of large clinical cohorts from community based treatments. This will inform our understanding of the maintenance of treatment effects beyond initial trial follow-ups, and together with data collected during treatment will allow for identification of factors predicting chronicity which will inform further treatment development.
