Research summary
This study aims to explore the culture and lived experiences of people living with Parkinson’s disease in care homes across Northern Ireland. Through an Institutional Ethnography (IE) approach, the research will investigate how care practices shape the residents experience. The study will employ semi-structured interviews with residents and their care partners, document analysis of care home residents notes, and focus group interviews with care home staff. By understanding the experiences of residents, NOK, and staff, this research aims to identify factors that influence the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s disease in these settings. The findings will inform future care practices to better support this vulnerable population.
