Research summary
The research is qualitative. It examines individuals experiences of living with axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating under the arms).
The main research question is: What is the lived experience of individuals with axillary hyperhidrosis?
Individuals will be identified from previous clinic lists of the botox clinic. These patients are known to have severe axillary hyperhidrosis as this is the criteria to accept them for the clinic. It is proposed to invite individuals along to be interviewed. It is proposed that 4-6 patients will be adequate, which should be enough to provide rich data within the restricted time limit. Interviews will be a maximum of 1 hour long.
The researcher will carry out semi structured interviews which will be audio taped. The data collected will then be transcribed. The data will be reduced and coded. This will be used to generate descriptions and begin interpretations of themes and patterns. This will form the basis of the report.
