Research summary
I seek permission to link height and weight data held in the STONES database to the SEATON database. Five year old children have height and weight measurements made on school entry and these data are held in the STONES database (Study of Trends in Obesity in North East Scotland). The Study of Eczema and Asthma To Observed the effects of Nutrition (SEATON study) was designed to relate early life dietary exposures to childhood asthma and eczema. Currently measurements are available in 754 of a possible 1924 five year olds and linkage will increase completeness of data to ~80%. An ethics opinion is required since I do not have consent from SEATON participants to use STONES data. I am custodian of both databases and have chi numbers. Linkage will be done in the Grampian datasafe haven using the usual methodology. This linkage will greatly increase the power of analyses planned which link fetal ultrasound scan measurements to childhood obesity.
