Research summary
As we age the function of our immune system declines, rendering us more susceptible to infections and less able to benefit from the protection usually afforded by vaccination. This research project aims to determine why our white blood cells, the cells of our immune system, do not function as well as we age. This research will also test whether it is possible to reverse some of these functional changes as a first step to finding new ways to preserve health in the later years of life.
