Data collection arrangements
All samples and data are stored at St James's University Hospital, Beckett Street, Leeds LS9 7JT. Frozen tissue and blood derivatives are stored in our HTA-compliant freezer room in the basement of the Clinical Sciences Building. This is a locked, restricted access area. Samples are also mirror banked in the Histopathology department in Bexley wing, which is on a different power supply. FFPE blocks are stored in locked cabinets in a restricted access room in the basement of the Clinical Sciences Building. Data is recorded on secure password protected university computers in either the Clinical Sciences or Wellcome Trust Brenner Building with different levels of access according to the type of staff e.g. clinical/non-clinical.
Research programme
Leeds is an active centre for breast cancer research and the RTB already supports many existing local activities. In addition we are part of the Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank (http://www.breastcancertissuebank.org/about-tissue-bank.php) and provide tissues to this initiative. This is covered by separate REC approval (10/H0308/48) which brings together 4 RTBs as the Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank (Leeds, Nottingham, Barts Cancer Institute, Dundee).
