  • Data collection arrangements

Pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (otherwise known as LCNEC) is a rare lung cancer with limited known data to guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes. These cancers are very aggressive and currently patient outcomes are poor. The research database aims to gather and analyse data on this condition. This database will help clinicians and researchers help understand how treatments for patient works, identify patterns in patient outcomes with the aim to improve patient care in the future.
This research database will collect patient identifiable data such as NHS number (for tracking purposes only) and date of birth , information on diagnosis and treatment, and information on outcomes. The data will be collected directly from patient records at NHS sites.

  • Research programme

This database is part of a larger research programme focused on pulmonary large cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC), a rare form of lung cancer. The programme brings together several organisations working closely to improve care and outcomes for people affected by this disease. Together, they aim to build and maintain a world-class research system and information resource to support learning and discovery. The partners involved are The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, the British Thoracic Oncology Group (which brings together healthcare professionals involved in lung cancer across the UK), and Boehringer Ingelheim. The database supports a research community made up of scientists, healthcare professionals, and patient representatives. Their shared goal is to ensure the research carried out is meaningful, relevant, and beneficial to both patients and the wider public.
