Research summary
The study aims to compare venous blood samples with capillary blood samples obtained by finger-prick testing prostate specific antigen (PSA) on lateral flow device.
Patients will be recruited from the Urology Clinic at MSE Hospitals. These patients are either being treated for prostate cancer or are being monitored for prostate disease.
To recruit healthy individuals, laboratory and hospital personnel will be approached.
The sample size of the studies is based on a power of 80%, an alpha level of 95% and the standard deviation is derived from a previous study of PSA measured in capillary samples. Based on this, the sample size for the PSA clinical study is 80 participants.REC name
