Research summary
Knowledge mobilisation is a complex concept that describes the process of enabling research evidence to be applied in practice for beneficial outcomes. Two problems exist in critical care in regard to knowledge mobilisation.
Firstly, today's health care professionals struggle with a lack of time and expertise to search effectively for research evidence and hence apply it in practice.
Secondly, critical care patients and their families have identified lack of information/knowledge as a key factor that influences their experience of critical care.
This study aims to improve patient care by implementing a model of knowledge mobilisation tailored to the requirements of critical care practitioners and patients/families. It will provide an insight into whether improved knowledge provision contributes to patient care and patient experience from the perspective of critical care clinicians and critical care patients/families.
