Data collection arrangements
Samples will be stored at the Maurice Wohl Clinical Neuroscience Institute King’s College London in the second floor freezers. Data will be collected from patients case notes and be stored separately on a secure database in a locked office only accessible by staff as delegated by the chief investigator.
Research programme
The community that will benefit from the King’s College London MND biobank will be patients with Motor Neuron Disease and their relatives as we learn more about the genetics behind MND. Researchers will also benefit from the biobank as the initiative will enable researchers the opportunity to access samples and data and use this to further investigate the causes and mechanisms behind MND along with any factors such as lifestyle and environmental which may increase the risk to the condition.Researchers will only have access to the data and/or samples once they have completed the access application form and submitted this and the access committee has reviewed and approved their proposal and an MTA is place between KCL and the requesting institution.
