Research summary
The breathing tubes/airways and lungs are lined with mucous. This is important in order to help defend ourselves from bacteria (bugs) and is important for our survival. However mucous affects the way in which drugs or medicines which are inhaled work within the lungs. We would like to obtain sputum from patients in order to test how drugs interact with it so we can design better drugs to help people.
