  • Research summary

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity, which manifest in various scenarios. Longitudinal studies show that 60% to 90% of children with ADHD continue to exhibit symptoms and impairments into adulthood . According to WHO, the global prevalence of ADHD in children is around 5.29% and adults is 3%. ADHD. Untreated ADHD could cause significant impairment in multiple areas including education, employment, interpersonal relationships, legal issues, road traffic accidents, substance misuse etc. Moreover, a study in 2018 estimated the economic burden of ADHD-related unemployment at $66.8 billion, with productivity losses of $28.8 billion and health service costs at $14.8 billion.
There has been a significant increase in awareness about ADHD, which has led to increasing referrals. The referral rates have increased exponentially leading to very long waiting lists- well over a decade. This delay in diagnosis leads to suffering and impairments as mentioned above. Early diagnosis and treatment would lead to a better a quality of life and reduction of the adverse outcomes from ADHD.
We are developing a non invasive AI technology using data captured from audio, video and actigraphy ( movement measurements) to enable early diagnosis and monitoring. This AI technology would bring objectivity and accuracy to the diagnosis as well.
