Data collection arrangements
Some personal details such as name, date of birth and hospital numbers will be collected so that we can link information about your treatment and recovery between the places (hospitals and clinics) where you have been treated. We also record your address, telephone, and email, so that we can contact you – solely for the purpose of this study. We will ask you to complete questionnaires about your symptoms and relevant treatments including surgery. These questionnaires will be requested before and at different times after your treatment. We may also request that you to share other information about your health, recovery, and daily activity level. For example, this might include the step count recorded by the health application on a phone or other device. This will always be optional and voluntary.
Research programme
The ORION study is being done to help us better understand how patients recover from orthopaedic treatments. We do this by recording information about your symptoms and the treatments we do. Before and after your treatment, we will ask you about your symptoms and recovery. This important information will then be studied with similar information from other patients having treatments for the same condition. This allows us to monitor the quality of care provided and to look for patterns that may allow us to improve care in the future.
