Research summary
Patients sufferers of PoTS are often symptomatic, having difficulty maintaining a good quality of life. Medical research is limited in this area. The project aims improve quality of life in the long-term. This is to be achieved by running focus groups until data saturation (with an initial pilot focus group). The groups will begin with finding out, from the patients perspective, how they have managed living with PoTS. The second part of the focus group will assess already used, self-management strategies in long-term conditions. Participants will be given examples of self-management programmes / assessing what is appropriate for PoTS patients. The focus groups will run over the latter part of my current MRES programme, and if successful, into an NIHR doctoral programme to develop a web based self-management tool for this patient group.
