Research summary
The research aims to explore whether patient dissatisfaction is linked to clinical quality in general practice in England. The study will use two national datasets: the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) and the General Practice Patient Survey (GPPS). QOF measures clinical quality at practice level and GPPS measures patient satisfaction with their general practice. The study will identify 2 practices delivering high levels of clinical quality (defined by high QOF scores) combined with high levels of patient dissatisfaction (measured by GPPS Q28); and two practices delivering poor quality clinical service combined with high levels of patient satisfaction rates. The study will employ a qualitative case-study approach in order to gather rich material.
The study will seek the views of primary care staff (clinical and non-clinical) and patients.REC name
