Research summary
This project will investigate the impact of cancer diagnosis and treatment on body image in young adults (aged 18-25) who have cancer, with a particular focus on body appreciation and positive impacts on body image. Data will be collected through semi-structured, in-depth interviews with participants recruited from the Northern Centre for Cancer Care, Newcastle upon Tyne. Interviews will be transcribed and analysed with a view to identifying key themes that describe the experience of body image in this population.
This project will be carried out as part of a Masters in Public Health and Health Services Research by a medical student intercalating between fourth and final years of the MBBS course at Newcastle University.
