Research summary
Although the treatment landscape for prostate cancer (PCa) has evolved over the past 10-years, survival rates for patients that develop advanced prostate cancer remain low, as PCa cells evolve to overcome current treatment regimens. Therefore, the development of new treatments is vital to improve patient outcome. To this end, this project will focus on testing a novel antibody-drug conjugate that binds to a unique protein found on the surface of PCa cells and kills them.
Preliminary data indicates that this new agent can significantly halt the growth of PCa cell lines in culture. However, it is now essential to validate these findings in primary patient-derived models that mimic the different types of PCa observed clinically. This work will provide vital preclinical data to move this promising therapy along the translational pipeline and guide the design of future early phase clinical trials to aid patient care.
