  • Data collection arrangements

Population base – All patients who have undergone CT examination for assessment of congenital heart disease.\n\nSelection – Undergone clinically indicated CT (computed tomography) examination for the assessment of their congenital heart disease\n\nAll data collected for this database is routinely collected clinical data and will be fully anonymised. There will be no additional data collected beyond that forming normal healthcare provision. No sensitive data will be stored.\n\nData collected will be as follows:\nHeight, Weight and Gender\nAge at time of scan\nCongenital heart disease diagnosis\nIndication for CT scan as opposed to an alternate imaging modality\nScan technique and dose reduction strategies applied\nAnaesthesia/sedation needs\nVascular access\nContrast dose\nUse of heart rate lowering medication and coronary vasodilators\nRadiation dose estimates\nLocal assessment of image quality\nLocal comparison of imaging findings with findings on any previously performed cardiac catheterisation examinations\nComplication experienced from the CT procedure

  • Research programme

This database has been designed to provide an international overview of CT practice in congenital heart disease imaging. This will be used to reach the following end points:\n\n•\tDefine current clinical practice of cardiovascular CT in congenital heart disease (CHD). \n•\tDefine the variability of risk of cardiovascular CT in CHD in the current era (risks arising from use of anaesthetic or sedation, ionising radiation exposure, renal dysfunction following administration of contrast media.\n•\tDefine the accuracy of cardiovascular CT in CHD compared to interventional (catheter angiography) findings.\n•\tProvide center-specific data regarding CT use, risk, and accuracy compared to an international group norm.\n\nThe aim is to provide data driven best practice guidelines for the use of CT in CHD.
