  • Research summary

The purpose of this PhD is to evaluate the effect of intergenerational programmes delivered in care homes in Wales on outcomes for older residents, younger people, social care staff, family and friends. It will investigate whether intergenerational activities in care homes can contribute to a relationship-centred approach to care and improve job satisfaction and motivation of care staff. The results will be used to develop social care in line with the vision for Wales, where care homes are great places to live, die, visit and work. This project will not be setting up the intergenerational activities, the links between the children and the older adults will already be organised and run by external partners and would be running regardless of the research project.
