Research summary
Children with neurodisability often develop gastrointestnal dystonia as they growth older, causing distressing symptoms associated when being fed, or opening their bowels. Many of these children are already on multiple medications, interferential therapy is a non pharmacological therapy to treat these distressing symptoms. It has been used before in children with slow transit constipation, but not in the group with neurodisability. This study aims to see if the therapy is acceptable to this group of children, and if it improves their distress and feed tolerance.
