  • Research summary

This is a single centre, non-interventional, qualitative study to explore the information and support needs of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) during the curative intent chemo-radiotherapy care pathway. \n\nEach patient recruited to the study will take part in a face-to-face semi-structured interview with a researcher to explore their experiences along this care pathway. We want to discuss with patients the information and support they have received at different time points in the pathway and whether this has been adequate, too much or too little. We will also discuss the format of the information they have been provided with and try to elicit patients views on how this could be improved. \n\nIn addition we will recruit, where applicable and appropriate carer dyads and ask them to take part in a separate face-to-face semi-structured interview with a researcher. A separate information sheet and consent form will be used for carers. We aim to gain the perspectives of carers of patients who are going through the curative intent chemo-radiotherapy care pathway on the information and support needs of both the patient and themselves as a carer.\n\nThis data generated from this project will inform an information and supportive intervention that will be developed and tested in a future study. \n
