  • Research summary

The QT interval is one of several measures made routinely from electrocardiogram (ECG). We will identify 1000 consecutive medical admissions to King's College Hospital, from January 2014, via internal data monitoring tools. ECGs taken (routinely) on these medical patients in the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department will be downloaded from the A&E secure intranet records. The ECG will be interpreted by 3 physicians, independently, to agree upon a specific ECG measurement (the QT interval). Patient data (age, gender, blood test results) and outcomes (hospital survival, length of stay, readmission rates) will be interpreted in relation to the presence or absence of 'long QT' on the admission ECG.
