  • Research summary

Radiotherapy remains a critical part of the treatment strategy for lung cancer. There is still a need to improve radiotherapy delivery and to minimise the side effects from irradiation of healthy tissue. This project is a first clinical investigation of a new idea for improving radiotherapy delivery. We wish to undertake a clinical evaluation of whether our non-invasive regularized breathing and breath−holding techniques can produce measurable improvements in the ability to track tumour position in a clinical setting in patients with lung cancer and hence reduce the planned treatment volume (and reduce the planned irradiation of healthy tissue).
