Research summary
An Adult Social Work Learning Review. Improving Adult Services: An Action Research Approach.
An Action Research Approach is being employed to assess the effectiveness of Adult Social Work Services in South Ayrshire. This will use three practitioner workstreams incorporating Community Care Assistants, Social Workers and Service Managers from the varying Social Work Departments supporting Adult Social Work Services including Community Care, Hospital Social Work, Mental Health and Learning Disability Teams and Ayr Hospital Social Work. The workstreams will reflect on different areas of practice including locality and intake Teams, support to specific groups and Social Work models and principles. As well as using the conversations of the workstreams as data analysis, the workstreams will also support the research design that aims to gather the views of service users, the wider social work staff and stakeholders. On analysing the research, supported by a practitioner researcher, the workstreams will develop an action plan to improve Adult Social Work Services in South Ayrshire. The Project is supported by a Project Manager and a Programme Board consisting of internal and externals advisors, including a member with experience of using services. The Practitioner Researcher is supported by an academic supervisor from Dundee University.REC name
