Research summary
Summary of Research
The aim of this study is to implement a exercise intervention for women who are post treatment for ovarian cancer. Women with ovarian cancer are reluctant to engage in exercise, both during and following treatment. This single centre study will consist of two stages and employ a mixed methods research design. The Medical Research Council for developing and implementing complex interventions will be used to guide the implementation of the intervention. Stage one will consist of a realist literature review. Stage two will focus on the feasibility of implementation and evaluation of the exercise intervention, this stage will also involve an economic costing of the intervention. It is anticipated this study will highlight key issues in relation to the implementation of an exercise intervention within this patient population.Summary of Results
A programme theory was developed the purpose of which was to provide a guide in relation to how to successfully implement an exercise intervention for women following chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer.
In addition an exercise intervention was implemented with 30 women following chemotherapy treatment for ovarian cancer.
