  • Research summary

This will be a multicentre retrospective study analysing the impact of COVID 19 on patients over the age of 60 who have sustained femoral fractures. We will review data from the national hip fracture database, blood tests and electronic notes to assess the impact of COVID 19 on the delivery of femoral fracture care, delivery of femoral fracture surgical training, the impact on postoperative morbidity and mortality in this high-risk group and to assess whether or not COVID 19 should factor into future decision making of definitive management for this patient group. Data will be collected for patients who presented from 01/02/2020 to 15/01/2020. The data for patients presented prior to Covid lock down 01/02/2020-23/03/2020 will be compared with patients who presented during COVID lock down 23/03/20- 15/05/20. Data will be collected at multiple sites and then collated together.
