Research summary
The function of the immune system declines with age leading to susceptibility to infection and an increased burden of disease. The changes within the cells of the immune system that are responsible for this decline in function are only beginning to be unravelled. This study aims to characterise some of the changes that occur in white blood cells over the life-span.
