Research summary
White blood cells respond to infection or immunisation by collaborating with each other in specialised anatomical structures such as the spleen, lymph nodes (e.g. tonsils). Here, they are able to generate immunity that can provide protection against subsequent infection. Sometimes, these processes break down, and can result in an impaired response after infection or vaccination. This study aims to understand the cellular and molecular biology that underpins both normal and impaired immune responses in humans.
