• Research summary

  In this research project, a structured and systematic approach to caring for patients with a spontaneous brain haemorrhage will be investigated in comparison to routine stroke care.

  The proposed care bundle includes:
  • control of blood pressure
  • control of blood sugar
  • control of body temperature
  • reversal of ongoing blood-thinning medications (oral anticoagulants)
  • structured dialogue with the neurosurgical and/or intensive care unit

  These stroke management treatments are recommended by the clinical guidelines. However, adherence to these treatments is currently insufficient.
  
  This research study will help hospitals apply this treatment strategy for routine care and to evaluate the treatment benefits, which will ultimately improve care after stroke.

  This study is being conducted in numerous hospitals in Australia and globally, with ethical compliance as part of an international collaboration coordinated by The George Institute for Global Health in Sydney, Australia and Skåne University Hospital, Sweden.
