Research summary
Research Summary
This study involves the collection of blood from patients with a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer, in order to determine whether the type of ERAP1 gene a patient has is related to whether their tumour is infiltrated by white blood cells. There are no targeted treatments for triple negative breast cancer and it is hoped that this may lead to a type of immune regulation therapy in this subtype. All patients with a recent diagnosis of this subtype would be eligible and it would involve blood collection and review of tumour slides only. Recruitment is expected to occur over two years. Patients will be recruited from a local NHS trust and samples will be processed on site within the cancer sciences division of the university.
