Research summary
Cells called fibroblasts are taken from joint tissue removed at surgery from patients undergoing joint replacement surgery with a known diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis. These cells are then grown in the laboratory. The aim of this research is to mix the fibroblasts with cancer cell line cells and inject them into mice. Once injected the mixed cells will grow together to establish tumours. These tumours will then be used to study the efficacy of immune therapies for cancer in the mice.
