Research summary
This study aims to test the feasibility of using nutrition support within an online home monitoring programme (My Health Record) to better support growth in infants with congenital heart disease (CHD).
Using nutrition guidelines to guide the provision of nutrition support, infants with CHD will be regularly followed up via telephone calls, face to face reviews in addition to contact via My Health Record. Although we regularly following patients up as part of our current standard of nutrition care, we do not always provide the same level of care to each infant with higher nutrition risk. In the feasibility study we will test whether using a standardised approach to nutrition support through the use of a nutrition process involving nutrition care plans and specific planned nutrition reviews will result in better growth and support for parents. We therefore want to know whether parents find this approach to nutrition support practical, feasible and acceptable, in addition to whether this approach to nutritional care will help support better growth before surgery.
