Research summary
HOME-BRAC study aims at evaluating the impact of the SIMEOX airway clearance medical device, combined with remote physiotherapy at home, on the quality of life and the pulmonary exacerbations of patients with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, compared with enhanced standard of care. The SIMEOX device (Physio-Assist, INOGEN group) is an innovative medical device for draining the bronchial tree. This device allows for mobilizing bronchial secretions. Thanks to a series of vibrations, it allows for reducing mucus viscosity and thus facilitates expectoration. An initial short-term pilot study, conducted over 3 months, demonstrated in particular a high level of satisfaction in the patients that benefitted from the SIMEOX in conjunction with the remote therapy, giving an average score of 9/10 for this treatment method. In this study, its impact over a longer term will be determined.
