Research summary
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is an inflammatory skin disease that causes boils to appear in various regions of the body. In many patients, the disease starts during puberty, but it takes approximately 7 years to be diagnosed. As a result, patients experience symptoms with little to no medical interventions or information. Additionally, during this time, patients are undergoing significant mental, physical, and social development. There are several qualitative studies to identify the quality of life factors that are important to HS patients in the adult population, but none in the paediatric population (< 18-year-old). The objective of this study is to identify factors that impact quality of life for paediatric patients with HS.
